40 year old Rodney Joseph, a man who was accused of regularly sexually assaulting and beating his 80 year old mother, was reportedly shot and killed by the police at his home at Top Hill, St. Elizabeth yesterday.
According to reports, early yesterday morning, a police team went to Joseph’s house, and tried to convince him to exit the house peacefully. It’s alleged that Joseph subsequently rushed from inside the house with a knife in his hand and stabbed at a policeman. Another policeman reportedly fired three shots at the knife-wielding man, hitting him in the side and shoulder. Joseph was rushed to the Black River Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
One of two men who attempted a robbery last night in CarisBrook, St. Elizabeth, was reportedly chopped to death by a mob. The dead robber has been identified as 22 year old Almartino ‘Mitch’ McCubbin of White Hill in st. Elizabeth. An accomplice reportedly escaped.
According to police reports, at approximately 10 p.m. last night, McCubbin and another man (who was armed with a gun), attempted to rob a CarisBrook resident. A struggled ensued, and the resident managed to make an alarm. Concerned residents came to his assistance, and the robber with the gun reportedly opened fire and managed to escape.
McCubbin was caught by the residents who proceeded to beat and chop him to death. A resident was injured during the melee, and is now in hospital in stable condition.
It was high drama in Burnt Ground, St. Elizabeth recently, when a husband, who was reportedly sick and tired of his wife cooking mackerel for dinner, attacked her with a machete. Fortunately, the woman was not hurt during the incident.
According to reports, the man came home last Sunday, expecting a traditional Jamaican Sunday dinner of rice & peas and chicken. He was however greeted with mackerel and white rice, which caused a clash of words that quickly transformed to a physical altercation. The enraged man was reportedly seen with machete in hand, chasing after his wife. He was unable to catch her, and reportedly abandoned the chase, choosing instead to throw stones and other objects at her.
After the incident, the man reportedly showed neighbors the plate with the food, and complained that he was tired of eating mackerel for dinner.
A love triangle took a vicious twist yesterday morning at Burnt Ground, St. Elizabeth, when a woman’s former boyfriend allegedly attacked her and her common-law partner.
The accused, who is on the run and whose name has been withheld, reportedly kicked in the door of 48 year old Melonie Morris’ house, where she was asleep in bed with her companion, Conroy Ledgister at approximately 4 a.m. yesterday morning.
The attacker chopped Morris in the head, and Ledgister was cut on the neck. Morris was taken to the Black River hospital where she was treated and released, while Ledgister was transferred to the Cornwall Regional Hospital where he was admitted in serious condition.
Morris had reportedly ended an affair with her attacker some months ago.
