Upset Motorist Charged With Littering
Odane Beale, 24 years old, of Resource District in Manchester, was sentenced recently to 60 hours of community service for littering, after he tore up a speeding ticket and threw it at the feet of the policeman who had just handed it to him.
Allegations are that at approximately 2 a.m. on the morning of July 28, Beale was pulled over by the police on Mandela Highway in St. Catherine, and given a ticket for speeding. He reportedly tore it up and threw the scraps at the feet of the policeman who then proceeded to arrest and charge him for littering (under the Solid Waste Management Act). He reportedly spent the night behind bars.
In court, Beale pleaded guilty with explanation, and told the court that his unruly action was because he had a bad day tending to family issues.
